Ceilidh or Barn dance?

Definitions of ceilidh seem to be changing.  A lot of purest think ceilidh should be a traditional Scottish get together with set dances.

We are not a traditional Scottish ceilidh band but are using the term as it is used in England to define an English Country Dance social.  The problem with that name is too many people associate it with American Country music so we use the term ceilidh or ceili.  It is the same with Barn Dance, that tends to suggest American hoe down and we don't do that!

So we would rather be called an English Electric Ceilidh Band or

The Lonely Mister Punch and his Extraordinary Ceilidh Orchestra
